Barnabas House and Waterfall

Today we had the priviledge of spending a couple hours at the Barnabas house. There we were able see some of the kids we took care of the past two years and a couple that will be having surgery this year. These kids are precious and we wanted to bring some of them back with us. On the way back we stopped and enjoyed one the beautiful sites in this country...the waterfalls were amazing. We finished organizing the ICU and got everything ready to start surgeries in the morning. Our plan was to run two ORs but one of the bypass machines is currently nonfunctional so we are trying to find away to get it repaired. If we are not able to fix the bypass machine it will mean cancelling surgeries.

We finally made it!!!

We finally made it to Honduras and got most of the supplies unpacked and organized. It's 11pm and we are just sitting down to dinner, but we'll be lucky if we can stay awake until our food arrives. Tomorrow we are going to the Barnabas House and I'm so excited. While we are there we will have the opportunity to see some of our patients from the past two years. Keep us all in our prayers as we are already exhausted and some of us aren't feeling so well.

Small detours...

We need your prayers! Our main cath doctor had a family emergency and won't be able to join us. We have replacement cardiologists, I'm sure they are amazing doctors, but we have never met them so it will be an adjustment working with someone new. Our flight this morning was cancelling so those of us who were supposed to leave this morning are now on the 0735 flight in the morning with the rest of the team.

We are leaving in one week!!!

We leave for Honduras one week from today and I'm so excited. We got most of the supplies packed and are trying to get everything in order to go. I posted a couple pics from last year...these kids stole our hearts, I heard they are doing well and I'm so excited to see them again. Please keeps us all in your prayers!

It's that time again!

Two weeks from tomorrow I return to Honduras and I'm so excited!!! This is the third year that we've traveled to San Pedro Sula, Honduras to do heart surgery and it's going to be the busiest year yet! This year we are taking more people, running two ORs and doing more surgeries and caths than the previous years. There are still so many children in this country that need our help and we are excited to have the opportunity to help them however fitting more surgeries into one week means we need lots of extra prayers!!!

Prayer request:
  • Safe traveling to and from Honduras
  • Enough supplies to take great care of these precious children
  • Strength and energy to keep us going during the long hard days
  • The health of our team members
  • Successful surgeries and fast healing of these children
  • Please pray for the families of these children, I can't imagine how tough this is for them
